ZaguryThe Bureau of Justice Assistance’s National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) invites you to participate in September’s webinar on grant writing, as a part of our Second Tuesdays at 2 webinar series. This session will explore the components of the solicitation process; including skills for creating an effective business plan, operational and funding management, and strategic planning. This webinar will also offer how-to information for competing for grants and resources in a highly competitive environment. The webinar will be presented by Mr. Michael Zagury.

Michael E. Zagury, MPA, is the principal officer of MJZagury & Associates LLC, a Risk and Resource Management consulting firm. He is a retired police captain with 38 years of public safety experience including police, fire, emergency medical services and emergency management. Currently, Mike is a trainer with the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of the Chief Financial Officer and other program offices. He provides national training in the areas of programmatic, financial and performance management training concentrating on grant writing, resource management, strategic planning, and sustaining programs.

  1. I am interested in the training offered on grant writing and can attend the webinar on Sept 14, 2010. Please let me know if there is any charge associated with attending this webinar training or any of the other training offerings. I think receiving information/ training through webinar attendance is very convenient. I appreciate that the training information will also be available following the webinar. Thank you.

    The event is free to attend and we’ll post all event materials soon after the event ends. (I’ll update the post to reflect this.)

    What are the bandwidth requirements? I am working from a cellular connection that is not that great.

  4. @andrew: The recommended connection is: cable modem, DSL or better Internet connection. The event is being recorded, so if you experience connection problems, you should be able to watch the recording on a slower connection.

  5. I am interested in the grant writing topic, however I have never participated in a webinar. Is it necessary to have video/audio tranmission or am I able to simply listen to it?

  6. @patti: You don’t need to have a microphone or webcam. You will be able to either listen via phone or via computer speakers. When you join the webinar, you’ll see the dial-in instructions in the “audio” box.

  11. I am a grant writer for the San Antonio Police Department and just completed watching the Making Dollars & Sense – Grants 1.0 webinar presented by Michael E. Zagury. This has to be one of the best presentations I have seen on the basics of Grant application solicitations, research, applying, and planning for funding.

    Is there any way to get a copy of this slide presentation (with audio) for our Police Department? We have developed this reputation of good programs, management, and implementation of grant awards. This I presentation can be used as a tool for our agency to develop further programs.
